Google recently made the following announcement regarding the importance of mobile responsive website design that some are calling “Mobilegeddon”:
“Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”1
Most likely you’re asking “What does this have to do with my website?” To put is simply, beginning on April 21st, 2015, if your website is not mobile responsive your mobile search result rankings will be negatively affected and your standard search results may as well.
This decision by Google was inevitable as the number of viewers utilizing mobile devices such as cell phones, iPads and tablets to find the information they require has increased dramatically.
